Tatiana May~Kallergi is a self taught fiber artist, based in Athens, Greece. Her work is an exploration of materials, processes and language. Traditional techniques are reviewed in a contemporary context. As such, her work sits in the space between art and craftsmanship. Drawing functions autonomously in her practice but also as the foundation of all textile work. With its roots in ecology and sustainability, her work initiates conversations on the environmental and social fragility of our times. Within this however, she uses humour as a device through the use of colour and imagery.

She has used range of fiber based materials  with techniques such as embroidery, tufting, lace art and compositional weaving. Metal rods and wire are often incorporated as a sculptural element or part of the display.

Her more recent work is composed exclusively from discarded fabric, off-cuts or dead stock textiles. This is a permanent direction that will apply to both sculptural objects and fabric pieces, in line with the ethics of her practice.

She holds a BA Art and Psychology from the University of Reading ( Owen Ridley Drawing prize) and a CAS in Curating from ZHdK.
